Ward Committee:In last two elections, three women were elected as members of the Union Parishad in our working area. They could not perform significant role due to non-specification of their roles and responsibilities in the govt. manual. They have lack of skills as they are not trained. At present, Unions have very limited scope to take part in the decision making process both at family and society because of traditional culture. Shushilan thinks that it is possible to involve women in the mainstream of development through creation of additional opportunities for them. For this, 5 seats have been kept reserve in each Ward Committee. A Union Women Network has been formed by 45 women Members taken from 5 in each of the 9 wards. |
