October 4, 2026, 10:50 am

In partnership with UNICEF, Shushilan successfully conducted a series of orientation sessions across all seven upazilas of Bhola district—Bhola Sadar, Daulatkhan, Burhanuddin, Tazumuddin, Lalmohan, Char Fasson, and Manpura upazila. The initiative empowered 175 youth leaders on crucial issues, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), cyberbullying, sexual harassment, adolescent-friendly healthcare, and maternal wellbeing.

Organized in seven batches, the sessions brought together 25 selected members of the Girls' Guides, Scouts, and Rover Scouts, along with teacher representatives from local secondary schools and colleges in each upazila. Project Coordinator Sajib Rahman and Training Officer Marufa Sultana conducted the sessions as the key facilitators.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Adolescent Health(Including (MHM): Educated participants on iron-folic acid supplementation, hygienic sanitary practices, services at Adolescent-Friendly Health Corners, and free birth registration for babies within 45 days of birth.
  • GBV & Online Safety (Cyberbullying Prevention): Clarified gender-based violence concepts and provided practical strategies to tackle online harassment and cyberbullying.
  • Sexual Harassment & Violence against Children including Child Marriage: Highlighted the risks of early marriage, physical punishment, and sexual harassment, while raising awareness about the national emergency helpline 109.

Participating youth leaders pledged to act as frontline advocates against child marriage and cyberbullying within their schools and villages. Shushilan reaffirmed its commitment to continuing capacity-building programs for coastal youth to ensure a safer and healthier environment across Bhola.
